BrowzOS
This project is a cloud-based OS, written in HTML, PHP, JavaScript & CSS. It was started by TechEmporium in 2008 & programming ceased in 2011, due to other projects & life matters. It has now been revived.
Key features:
- A desktop & Mac OS X like icon dock, written in CSS, HTML & JavaScript to launch different pop-up windows
- Each desktop icon can be dragged & repositioned
- Each pop-up window runs its own web pages, containing applets or web apps with various utilities
These utilities include:
- Clock & calendar
- Word processor*
- Spreadsheet*
- Calculator
- Instant messaging using phpFreeChat
- Media browser/player**
- Games listing***
- Terminal emulator****
*These utilities will need improvement, in order for users to save files in their web directories.
**This utility will need massive improvements, in order to allow users to upload, view a listing of, select & run media files from their web directories.
***A preference for GPL or AGPL v3 games is desired, though as it stands, all games available are closed-source freeware, except for Java Chess & Madness Interactive. All non-free games as featured on the demo site have been removed.
****This actually is a placeholder & doesn't work at all. The original creator of this terminal emulator also fell off the radar & went MIA, so a better terminal emulator is needed.
