... Rename it as SetStatus; make it part of AudacityProject not
TrackPanelListener; and use a roundabout event signalling to cause the timer
restart.
Because SetStatus will be one of very few things left in AudacityProject, but
the timer handling will be part of another class decoupled from it.
And TrackPanelListener won't really be needed: TrackPanel will not need to
pretend it doesn't know what an AudacityProject is.
... Remove mention of obsolete plans for TrackPanel refactor, superseded by a
different refactor now accomplished.
Remove detailed mention of names of functions and data members that implement
drawing.
Move most of Roger's comments about drawing into Overlay.h which is now the
more relevant place.

... if the event is not handled and skipped by sub-windows first, such as for
toolbar button clicks.
(But track panel clicks are skipped even after doing something, so they may
also cause seeking besides other responses. So click can seek AND set cursor.)
This is meant to make drag to seek and wheel for change of speed easier,
without needing to keep the mouse in the narrow time ruler.
Also lets you click in the ruler, then move in any direction, and not miss the
motion event that should start the scrub playback.
The event handling is a bit of a hack, using propagation. It does not use
capture.
... Should have no effect on generated code, except perhaps some slight faster
virtual function calls. Mostly useful as documentation of design intent.
Tried to mark every one of our classes that inherits from another, or is a
base for others, or has abstract virtual functions, and a few others besides.
A 4hr track used to take about 20s to cut a few samples. This is now significantly improved, to around 3s. Leland did this by
(a) moving the size calculation to when we examine the undo history, so it isn't slowing down the edits.
(b) in size calculation, using sizes that are cached rather than going to disk to find the sizes.
(c) writing the autosave file which is to an FFIle to a string first, i.e. using XMLStringWriter as a buffer for XMLFileWriter.
Step (c) may also make autosave marginally safer, as the risk of a partially updated autosave file is reduced.
