Day 5
------------------------------------------------------------------
I felt a hand gently caress my face, fingers running through my
hair. I stirred and squinted my eyes open. Kriti.
"Hey sleepyhead," she whispered.
"Mmmmh! What time is it?" I rubbed my eyes and stretched my arms.
Kriti ducked as my hand swept across her. "Krsnah!" she slapped
my arm playfully.
I yawned and turned to face her, "What are you doing here?"
"Waking you up," she smiled.
"You know, you're really beautiful," I said softly.
"D'you really think so?" she blushed.
"Mmhmm! I think you're really gorgeous!"
"You seem to be in a really good mood today!" she teased.
"How long have you been sitting here?" I asked her.
"About half an hour. I intended to wake you before you had a bad
dream," she replied.
"And how do you know I'd have a bad dream?"
"Inference. I've been watching you."
"How would you feel if I sat by your bedside and watched you
sleep?"
She smiled and gazed into my eyes, her hand gently caressing my
face.
"Kriti?"
"Hmmm?"
"Feel my heartbeat," I whispered.
She put her hand on my chest. "Wow!"
"Can I feel your heartbeat?" I asked her.
"Would you like to see an asteroid?" she asked.
"What?" I was confused.
"An asteroid! There's one approaching our spaceship right now!"
she said, excitedly, "Come with me now!"
Kriti jumped up and pulled me out of the pod, "Hurry!"
"Okay! Okay!"
------------------------------------------------------------------
It was a big one. Like a small jagged island floating in space.
"Make sure it doesn't hit us!" I called out to Trisha, who was
seated at the front, with Adah.
"It won't! We're half a mile away from it!" she responded.
I peeked over Kriti's shoulder and watched the giant asteroid
float by.
"Any chance we can land on it?" I asked.
"It's too dangerous, I can't allow you to do that," Aditi said.
"Okay," I said, resignedly.
------------------------------------------------------------------
"Have you ladies ever considered getting married or something?" I
asked.
"No," Adah replied, nonchalantly.
"Why not?"
"You wouldn't understand," Aditi said.
"Why? You think I'm too stupid?" I was offended.
"Yeah! A stupid baby!" Adah quipped.
"Fine! You can all be nuns then! Stay single and miserable your
entire lives!" I pouted.
"Are you miserable?" Selena asked.
"No!"
"Then why would we be miserable?"
"Because you all deserve to be loved and cherished and have big
beautiful babies and stuff," I said solemnly.
"We already got one baby on our hands. We don't need another!"
Adah scoffed.
"Is she always a bitch like this?" I looked around.
I regretted it as soon as the words slipped out of my mouth.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean that."
Adah got up and left.
"Adah!"
"It's alright. She needed a break," Aditi said.
