record actions in progress, hijacked to elevate to QEC by stephanie
Maureen is working on something plant related, soil stuff. She's
interrupted by Eva coming in. They need to convince Maureen to
betray the primary mission and assist them with the hijacking of
the Melchizedek, machinary left behind on 4. They need to take the
ship to get Jerome if they want any chance of success. Doing so is
mutany. But they have her embryo in stasis and it's not planned to
be thawed out until the settlers arrive. That will be long after
they're dead and gone. She'll never know her child. Steal the
Melchy, re-implant the embryo, take control of the mission from
Prezzi and rescue Jerome. Afterwards won't they just take it back
from her? What do they have in mind for that? We need Spinelli or
Reed for the implanting and also to get Prezzi clear of the ship
itself. Once they have Jerome they'll demand things before return
of the ship. It's the only way around the courts martial they'd
face.
There is no planned connection from Earth in their lifetimes. They
have 43 crew (or 41) and that's it until the end of their days.
This mission is one way and they're to accomplish whatever they
can before the clock runs out. Why listen to the Ecclesia that's
not here? Why defer to Prezzi if she's willing to sacrifice their
limited crew. They are not disposable even if they volunteered to
die.
Side note, why did Stephanie volunteer for this? Is she hiding
something? The cheery, up-beat personality has accepted her
eventual death? Or was there something at home. Illness! She was
granted a cure of she couldn't afford in exchange for service. She
had days to live, now she has a life, but not at home. There's no
one for her back there either.
