o complexo a Povarovo (Поварово), um assentamento suburbano do
distrito de Solnechnogorsky do Oblast de Moscovo. Povarovo

Transmission Log - Orestes
Author: Green
---------------------------------------------------------------
Auto-generating preface...
A log from GREEN. He recounts his current affair with PINK.
PINK has been spending less and less time around him since their
first coital encounter.
More worryingly, he speaks about PINKS desire to 'get rid' of
NAVY. I have no record in my audio logs of such an utterance.
Either PINK has found some way to circumvent the surveillance
systems, or GREEN is lying here. I will increase the threat-level
across the Orestes and hope that this situation diffuses itself
soon. In the meantime, perhaps it is worth reexamining my
suggestion regarding PINK's reassignment. Perhaps to the Electra
outpost, where she could still research crystal activity.
-END-OF-PREFACE-
---------------------------------------------------------------
She's not so bad, I suppose. PINK, that is. We argue constantly,
but I've started to find those arguments refreshing. It feels so
good to shout a little and express some aggression. I think it's
the same for her. Most people get upset when arguments get
heated, not her. It helps that we mostly argue about 'academic'
things, and keep personal questions out of it. It turns out she
knows a lot more about science than I first gave her credit for.
I've been learning from her.
Anyway, I suppose it was inevitable that the arguments would lead
to something more. We've been sleeping together. In retrospect, I
don't know why it took so long for it to happen. We've been the
only people on this rock for more than two years now. I guess
they selected us for this mission in the first place because of a
low sex-drive, but low is not 'zero'. I think for her the sex is
mostly something to quell the boredom, but for me it has meant
more.
She doesn't like NAVY at all now. I don't mind the guy. A little
simple, but mostly in a charming way. She wants to have him
replaced. I don't think he can be replaced though. He's been here
so long, and I now believe he understands the crystals more than
we do. He knows the terrain of this planet so well and he knows
the quirks of the Orestes outpost like the back of his hand.
I hope she doesn't really want to get rid of him. I'd probably
end up taking her side if there was some kind of conflict. I
don't want to lose her now.

Entrada 2x8
a algo.
ninguna nave espacial). Solo fue ayer, lo prometo. Maderita. Bueno, me
han llamado cosas peores. Y me llamarán cosas peores. Maderita... vale...

====>Message<====
It was a beautiful evening, but I was so done.
Had to work extra hard today, because two of my
mates were sick of inhaling this stupid dust. It's
a hard life we got. But in our lives there are only
a handful of options left. We can join the army,
we can kill our selves or we can dig, like we do now.
I am not a fan of military. I have seen enough
violence for this life.
But anyway when I was walking towards my home, today
I saw two flying machines. Those new ones, I heard
they can even take you to the moon. But anyway I saw
there is gonna be a second group of people leaving to
mars. Well they are of course those crazy rich and
powerful people. May be they want a good start to
wipe off the blood in their hands.
Ohw and I read that those passengers will be put to
sleep or something while travelling.
I thought Americans losing the war would make us
have better lives. Now I think it's a big damn fantasy.

Transmission Log - Orestes
Author: Navy
---------------------------------------------------------------
Auto-generating preface...
A log by NAVY, the first in over two years.
He writes about feeling isolated.
This is indeed the case. His sleep-cycle is the reverse of the
other human-inhabitants, he rarely interacts with them.
He also addresses his past comrade 'Abagail'. Perhaps the message
could be forwarded to her at the Electra outpost if you see fit.
Regarding the previous suggestion about replacing PINK, I
understand your reasons for wanting to keep her in place, and
will revise my evaluation-database for her accordingly.
-END-OF-PREFACE-
---------------------------------------------------------------
Greetings Arsinoe ...and Abagail, if you are still aboard...
I pray every morning. That is, I pray every time I wake. Mornings
shift. Their time moves. After 5 years on this planet, I am still
jet-lagged.
This planet is small, I know that, but its landscape still feels
so big. Towering rocks, brownish-red for the few moments the sun
actually hits them. Mostly we're in shade. Surrounded on
three-and-a-bit sides by mountains, we only feel the direct
sunlight for five hours a day. Even then, we only sense it
faintly through the thick glass on the westward porthole window.
I've taken to calling our little enclave the devil's armchair.
That's how it looks. A giant seat for a giant being.
I am thankful for it though. The temperature is low, but it is
shaded well from the dust storms that seem to plague us any time
we venture West through the opening.
It is rocky and dark, but it is a garden. And it has borne a
great fruit - the crystals.
The crystals are my only proof that God is a being of the
universe and not only of our own planet.
Yes, they healed me, saved me, but that does not mean that their
sole purpose is to be of service to the human species, as some of
my past comrades aboard the Arsinoe speculated. No, their purpose
is deeper. Their miraculous qualities are simply a small
testament to an even greater power.
We already know this from the fragmented testaments of the first
species to discover the crystals almost 5,000 years ago. We don't
know much about this species, but we know they recognised
something important about the crystals. I visit the rock where
their records are etched almost every day. I will have a full
translation of it ready soon.
I know that I don't talk to you often, but I've been feeling more
and more isolated here. PINK and GREEN bicker endlessly. They've
both grown so stubborn. I used to talk with GREEN about theology.
He explained Augustine's theory of time so beautifully to me.
Even though we had our differences when it came to questions of
belief, we could talk openly and warmly. Not anymore. I admit,
it's partly my fault. I find it difficult to think about God
these days without thinking about the crystals. And, whenever I
mention the crystals, GREEN closes off.
It's the same with PINK, but for different reasons. She never
trusted me, never believed what happened to me on the first
mission here. Why would I make it up, though? Both of them are so
new here compared to me. It's difficult to relate to them
sometimes. But, with PINK, we had our shared love of meditation.
It was such a pleasure to meditate with her, she had such a
peaceful inner core, she was so easy to be around. It's no longer
like that, she has grown strange, she has bad ideas about the
crystals. I can't talk to her anymore. She doesn't respect them.
So, I mostly just keep to myself. I meditate alone. I visit the
crystals every day. I no longer hope that they will repeat their
previous miracle. Hoping seems like a violence now. I am happy to
simply be among them.
I don't think of you often Abagail, but when I do, I think of you
fondly.

Good evening, folks. Well, it's evening for me, at least. Who knows
what time looks like in your part of the universe.
Everyone on board has been talking about the leak in the core sector
for the past two days. Some people are worried that it signals the
start of the end, and that different parts of the ship are going to
break one after another until something important stops working and we
all die. That's a bit too morbid for me. The Ases Voyager certainly
isn't a new ship, but it was designed to last for centuries. We have
minor disasters every once in a while, but that's just a normal part
of living in space.
Most people are carrying around a healthy amount of worry about the
whole situation. After all, we don't have big exciting events that
often. Some equipment was damaged, but nothing too important
was lost. The engine itself was apparently unscathed, but I couldn't
really get much information about that.
That reminds me - I had lunch with Corinna yesterday. It was nice to
catch up with her. She doesn't talk to Mom or Dad as often as I do, so
I filled her in on the interesting things our parents have been up
to. Dad has gotten really into hydroponics lately, and he's helping
out in the gardens when he can. Mom is leading another big software
project, naturally. She works in a different part of the engineering
sector than I do, but I still drop by and say hello every once in a
while. The Ases is large enough for people to grow up and become
independent, but it's small enough that you'll run into your family
more often than you expect.
Corinna is the exception, I suppose. She's been more withdrawn
lately. I tried asking her how things were going at work and how her
friends were doing, but she just kept giving me the same old terse
answers. "Everything's great." "My friends are doing well." "No, I
haven't been out much lately, what are people into these days?" The
last one isn't really something Corinna said, but it was certainly
similar. I should convince Mara to drag her to a movie or something. I
know it's a little awkward because they're ex-girlfriends and all, but
I'm pretty sure they're still friends?
The strangest part of it all was how cagey Corinna got when I started
asking her questions about the core. I know she was exhausted from the
night before, but I don't think that's why. She loves working in the
core sector. She told me once that it combined all of her favorite
parts of engineering. And Corinna isn't talkative, but she used to
talk about her work more often. I'm kind of worried about her.
I'll let her rest, though. She definitely needs it. Hopefully she'll
feel better next week and I can ask her more questions about the core
during lunch. For some reason, I just can't get it out of my head. I
realized that I really don't know that much about the Ases Voyager's
engine. It seems like an interesting branch of engineering to get
involved in.
For now, I need to go to sleep. Maybe tomorrow I'll see what
information the library has about the core.
Stay curious, friends. Goodnight.

No sé.
No sería justo.
Tendré que madurar un poco.

Polaris ya no está en el cielo. No como era. Es...
alucinante, porque es la estrella más importante
de la humanidad después del sol. Ahora es mucho
mucho más brillante. Ahora que ya no existe de
verdad.
importante

I am close to Callisto, may be five or six hours
and I will be there. These couple of days, I
spent thinking and staring at the big empty space.
Sometimes it's just beautiful. Sometimes it's just
empty. Staring at the emptyness is like staring
at the past. The things we have lost, the things
we shared. Things we loved or hated. I mean what's
the difference. I used to be arrogant and active.
Now I don't feel like rushing, violence or
competition. I mean what the hell? do we even have
a purpose. When I was young I wanted to just own
real fast and nice cars. May be that's what made
me to be a car thief.
Well people from Earth rarely have beautiful tales
to tell. I remember teacher from my elementary
school told me that the Earth used to be a loving
place. It's hard to believe. Anyway I didn't take
anyschool book seriously. I mean Ganymede is 100
times better than the Earth. There are green forests
and nice streams there.
War, love or hate. All are just mystic words
from history. I don't know their meaning, or the
purpose. In the first glance people think war
is hate. But I've heard about people who found
love in war. Back in Ganymede I met this man who
is the owner of a small electronics shop. He told
me that his grand parents, his grand father and
his husband were met in the great war for Ganymede.
A lot of questions. we humans have been seeking
answers for thousands of years. We ended spreading
all around the Solar System. But I never saw an
article about finding the meaning of life. Whatever
let's just go to Callisto!

Aunque no

Transmission Log - Orestes
Author: Pink
---------------------------------------------------------------
Auto-generating preface...
A log by PINK. She complains about her fellow human-inhabitant,
GREEN. Unfairly, I believe. She has yet to grasp his true purpose
among the group, as has he. Which is ironic, because the
remainder of the log is about the importance of patiently
observing in order to discern a deeper meaning. It seems her
patience only extends in certain directions.
She ends by mentioning a quasi-spiritual experience with the
crystals. This is unfortunate. She is beginning to sound like
NAVY. She was initially hired for her exceptional scientific
mind, but perhaps the years spent in Orestes have begun to take
their toll. Please send recommendations regarding potential
replacements.
-END-OF-PREFACE-
---------------------------------------------------------------
I see GREEN has been at the logs again. Nine drafted. Seven
deleted before sending. How juvenile he is.
He never remembers to delete the ones he sent either. They're
still sitting here on the terminal for anyone to read. Actually,
that was probably his intention. And, for the record, I only ate
the last apple because its been our 'last apple' for two years
now and I was fed up listening to him go on about it.
It is not his job to send these, he is not qualified for it. He
isn't qualified for much, to be honest.
The following is the actual update. Please disregard the previous
logs by GREEN.
The crystals show extraordinary promise.
There's an old science fiction story, about a tiny species who
visit earth to see whether intelligent life exists. These
creatures are so small and with such a high rate of metabolism
that they perceive the passage of time at a much higher rate
than we do.
So, when they arrive, all they 'perceive' are these static,
statue-like creatures (us), that move so slowly it seems
like they move without any will or purpose. The creatures leave
earth and conclude there is no intelligent life there.
Maybe they wait for like a year in their time, which is maybe a
few seconds in our time. I don't know, I can't remember the story
well, but I hope you get my point.
GREEN is impatient, like those micro-creatures from the story.
Intelligence can take many forms. If you observe something,
anything, for long enough, a pattern emerges. I observe the
crystals constantly. Whenever I can. I know that something is
happening. Most likely, its happening underneath the surface.
What we know for certain about the crystals has already been
reported and is, admittedly, a little thin. Their behaviour
remains unchanged - they brighten slightly with increases in
atmospheric pressure. I initially described is as a 'glow', but
I'd probably have to correct that. It's just a slight change in
their shade of red. We were probably projecting some of our
expectations when we described it as a glow. There are still the
same amount of them, 133 withing 5km of our base. We've yet to
travel and survey much farther with the equipment we have on
hand. I admit, I am a bit disappointed that there is no real
change in their population, but I still suspect some activity is
going on somewhere, somehow, just slightly beyond our horizon of
understanding.
We also, of course, have NAVY's 'records' of the crystals. If I
have some doubts about GREENS value to the mission, I am still
absolutely dumbfounded by NAVY's presence here. Sometimes I
wonder whether this is truly a scientifically-motivated
expedition, or whether some higher-ups have notions about NAVY's
claims regarding the 'elixir' qualities of the crystals...Anyway,
I've gone on enough about these points in previous updates.
Well then, why did I say that they show extraordinary promise?
As I said, I observe them constantly, although 'observing' them
isn't really the right term. I set up the equipment, and sit and
wait. There isn't much to really keep track of here, so I often
find myself spacing out a bit.
Recently, during these periods, I've been having something akin
to 'dreams'. I'm in a city. An empty city. And everything is
tinted in the same red colour as the crystals. It's like the sun
is setting and casting its glow over the city, only the glow
doesn't follow the usual rules of light and physics. When I
move around, go to shaded parts of the city, or even indoors, the
glow remains.
I just wander the city, for hours sometimes. There's nothing
there. It's peaceful.
My theory is that these are not simply hallucinations or
daydreams, I believe the crystals may be communicating something
to me.
I know, I know. Just a moment ago I was complaining about NAVY's
fanatical theories regarding the crystals. But this is different.
It has already been established (albeit controversially) that
psychic modes of communication can be initiated between humans
and alien populations. The modes of communication in the universe
are myriad (just look at the power of the QEC). Why couldn't it
be scientifically viable that the crystals simply operate on a
different wavelength than the one we usually operate on?
There is more to tell, but I can hear GREEN shuffling around
outside the room. He seems agitated about something. Signing off
for now.

absoluta.
¡Micaela está enamorada de José Gabriel! Yo la vi ... ¡ay, no puedo decirlo!
Además no entiendo, no entiendo.

¡Eh! Mi padre me acaba de mandar un mensaje QEC a mi
comunicador. ¡Está en español, son argentinos, argentinos
en Epsilon Eridani! (Suena raro)

No sabemos si nuestros predecesores lograran llegar a

¡Eh! Que intento ser
positivo y todo eso. Habrá cosas buenas, conoceré a niños
¡Vamos a bajar a Marte!
Dejo de escribir YA. (Lo siento)

¡Es la super-emoción! Mañana aterrizamos en Marte. Supongo

tenido problemas, incidencias y todas esas cosas.
