+++ title = "Rain Down" description = "Poem in Two Parts" [taxonomies] categories = ["blog"] tags = ["art", "poems"] [extra] zenn_applause = true +++ ## By Satya Benson Rain down I’m shivering to the bone Drenched, and standing alone Rain down on me Let it rain My warmth will flow out from my blood My consciousness will fade from my brain The water and cold air will turn my flesh blue And my shaking will stop You will rain down on me And the cold will burn me like a flame The fires will rage and my skin will turn red and black My breath will be shallow and filled with smoke and rainwater My fingernails will crack But I will feel no pain Rain down I’m shivering -- Rain down My heart is pounding in my ears I’m drenched and standing alone Rain down on me Let it rain I will open my mouth and taste the salty drops My coursing blood will turn the water to steam My consciousness will become invisible as I feel Every pounding drop which lands on me and every pain and every tightening And my shaking will stop You will rain down on me And your warmth will melt me like wax in a flame The fires will rage and my skin will turn raw and red My breath will be soft and fading away My fingernails will bite my palms And I will feel pain Rain down My heart is pounding
