stories tell that what happens at the deepest insides of computers is composed of nothing more than "1" and "0".
but what are these binary digits made of? voltages? electric charges?
are they actually digits? are they actually binary? at what level of abstraction?
or more importantly, maybe: of what else can these binary digits be made of?
to what extent can we compute without summoning the semiconductor industry?
its achievements are amazing, i agree.
but also, can't be really sustained.
let's play, let's explore possibilities.
maybe it's not practical today, but it can be fun.
it might be able to survive.
