Molly Brown is currently logging time, status code, client IP and requested path. Could it log a message too? For example when a CGI script fails, I have no simple way to see that it failed and why. It could log the stderr of the script.

Good call. I have intended for a while to add a separate error log file, alongisde the access log file, where this kind of information could go.
