SHUF(1) General Commands Manual SHUF(1) NAME shuf - shuffle lines or numbers SYNOPSIS shuf [-rz] [-n count] [-o file] file ... shuf -e [-rz] [-n count] [-o file] arg ... shuf -i range [-rz] [-n count] [-o file] DESCRIPTION The shuf command shuffles lines, arguments (-e), or numbers (-i) and prints out the resulting list. The options are as follows: -e Shuffle and print the given arguments. -i Shuffle and print the list of positive integers from the given range, where range takes the from of two positive integers separated by a dash (`-'). -n count Only print count lines of output. -o file Write to file instead of the standard output. -r Repeat the shuffling and printing steps infinitely, or until count is reached. -z Use the NUL character as the line-separator for both reading and printing.
