I think it would be beneficial to add the following notices to the README:

  1. If something in the guide doesn't quite fit what you're trying to accomplish, feel free to break the guidelines. They're guidelines, not rules.
  2. Encourage people to customize the guide for themselves (not necessarily written down, but at least in their head have a consistent style in their formatting).
