I have been responding to these by email but was enlightened by Ben that responding by email does not work.

I have little to no experience in setting up a decent logrotate -setup. I've used - slightly - softwares such as logstash etc but those are probably not applicable in this scenario.

Suggestions?

...it looks like newsyslog can do it.

~$ which newsyslog 
/usr/sbin/newsyslog

I haven't used it, but as it is in the base system, it might be the way to go instead of additionally installing logrotate.
