I cannot figure out how to exit from an ssh session and always end up needing to close my terminal. I tried shutdown and exit, which did not exist. Quit or reboot take me back to a login screen. Is there a way to exit the ssh session by terminating execution of the ssh connection?

I feel like we talked about it before, but I cannot remember and all of the rtc e-mail history on the subject disappeared.
